Aledawn Reviews: Soul Eater

Soul Eater. A sound soul dwells within a sound mind and a sound body. These are the first lines on which every episodes opens. The word soul is lightened in blue and glowing like a flame.

Complete review behind the break.

In the first episode of the show we meet with Maka Albarn, a weapon meister (in training) and her Demon Weapon, Soul Evans. Maka and Soul are faced with an evil human spirit. When they defeated him, showing a glowing soul. Soul Evans, eats the soul and that makes 99. Whenever a weapon eats 99 souls, he or she only needs one witch soul to become a Death Scythe (A phrase know as the weapon of the Shinigami, who is called Lord Death.) Soul and Maka hunt down a witch, named Blair, to kill her. When Soul eats her soul, he finds out that Blair is not a witch, but a cat with very strong magic. This magic enables her to turn into human form whenever she pleases.

In the second episode, we come to meet Black Star and his Demon Weapon, Tsubaki. Tsubaki is not a scythe, like Soul, but she can turn into multiple ninja weapons, plus a awesome katana. The man in question turns out to be Franken Stein, the first meister of Spirit. When Maka and Soul try a new move, called Witch Hunt it works perfectly for the first time. When it does not harm Stein, it all seems lost. their bodies and easily kills Mizune. Eruka manages to escape after Maka and her friends appear to investigate. After realizing that she must overcome her fears of having Soul hurt, Maka tells Stein that she finally discovered what she lacks. Maka, Soul, Black Star and Tsubaki travel to London only to run into Free, who further reveals himself as a werewolf and to be capable of using ice based magic. After a desperate effort from Maka and Soul to work together again, they are able to throw him into the river. The four begin to leave when Maka coughs up some blood in her hands, only to discover that the blood is black.

Personal Opinions:

Blair in human form
I find this show very entertaining, and only because the episodes are about twenty-two minutes, you will notice how time flies by after watching a few. I must admit that I have not read the manga’s of the show, but I am willing to do it. The entire series catches my attention as more and more people are introduced into the story. By times I wonder who is dating who, but because of the children’s age, from 13 to 16, it is left untold. I just have to assure you that it is totally worth watching it. I know I have enjoyed it very much and I guess that if you’re into these kinds of anime, you will enjoy it too.

Love,

Aledawn
